Deadlines
Well, so far I am one day past a self-imposed work deadline. I am planning WITHOUT FAIL to finish it today. TODAY! I'm about two-thirds of the way there, and if I work straight through (with minimal e-mail checking breaks) until 5:00, I just may make it. This means no napping today, one of my favorite things. I'm seriously of the "afternoon siesta" train of thought. I think it's mostly because the rest of my family goes to bed at 9:00, so I have the house to myself. I usually mostly work from 9:00 to 11:00 or 11:30, and then I need a half hour to read and shut my brain off, otherwise I'll be typing in my head all night. So then I usually am able to take an afternoon nap to make up for my late nights, I guess. But when I nap, it has to be the whole deal, in my bed, lights off, TV off, fan on. There have been plenty of New Year's resolutions about, No more napping, that have failed miserably. It's like when you're in the zone and all you want to do is sleep and there's no one there to stop you, how can you not? I have no will power when it comes to naps. Plus, I love my bed, so that doesn't help or it does, whichever way you're looking at it! Costco's Kirkland brand recently started making 450 thread count sheets, which are WONDERFUL. Now they even have 500, which will be my next splurge for my new house.
NEW PRODUCT ALERT -- I normally would never admit to buying anything that Hilary Duff and her sister are hawking on TV, but the new little square Ice Breakers gum is really good. And it is instantly cool in your mouth. The wintergreen flavor is the best.

Friday night
So my sister has been bugging me to start adding to my blog. She even posted a whole entry on me, I'm assuming, to guilt me into starting up again. So here's my Friday night. Right now I'm half-way watching the Huskies play the Huskies (UW, UConn) in the Sweet 16? I think that's right. So far the Huskies (UW) are ahead. If they win, cool. But I've learned not to expect a whole lot, growing up at a choke high school, attending a choke college, then moving to a choke town. I'm also packing away boxes full of crap that I'm taking out to my storage unit in Enumclaw tomorrow. We're moving this summer, and I figure if I can get at least half of our belongings into that storage unit, we can MAYBE get the house into some sort of sellable condition. When my husband got the new teaching job last May, we figured he would commute for a year so we could get the house ready to sell and not have a lot of crap to move. Nice plan. Come February, and I'm up to my ears working on these wiretaps for work and I don't even have ONE spare minute to start packing. Work has been pretty non-stop since then, but I have been making an effort to get the house ready. I'm so ready for a new house, but haven't done the work to get rid of the old one yet... Help. Anyway, my Friday nights are a far cry from the corner stool at Moose's by the phone, but this is my life. Who'd a thunk it.
